November 13, 2009 - Exciting Florida News from Star Casualty

Often announcements of rate changes bring nothing but news of new rates. Star Casualty has something really exciting to add to the announcement of our rate change which will be effective 11/15/2009 for new business and 1/1/2010 for renewals.

You all probably remember the attempt earlier this year to get the Florida Legislature to approve a payment processing fee for agents. It failed but we succeeded!

Star Casualty is the first and only carrier to bring you an opportunity to cover your costs. For policies effective under this revision we are introducing a reinstatement fee charged to your insured. What is so exciting is that you, our Agent Partners, will get $5 for every reinstatement you process under this revision. That’s right, you get $5 added to your commission statement each and every time an insured cancels and reinstates. What a great way to improve your bottom line.

With the new reinstatement fee come some other changes:

• Policies will now reinstate with a lapse in coverage. We are offering the same reinstatement time frames we have always allowed: up to 10 days on mid-term cancels and 30 days on renewal down payments.

• We no longer will require a Statement of No Loss to reinstate as there is a lapse.

• Inspection requirements for vehicles with COMP/COLL still apply.

IMPORTANT NOTE: New business effective before 11/15/2009 and renewals effective before 1/1/2010 continue to reinstate without lapse and a Statement of No Loss is still required on these policies. There is no reinstatement fee on these policies.

That’s Right….MORE MONEY with LESS WORK!!!! This is just another example of how Star Casualty is focused on helping our Agent Partners.

TOWING and RENTAL coverages are now available. We will now offer Towing coverage with $50 per occurrence up to 1 occurrence per policy term and Rental Reimbursement with $20 per day with up to $375 per term.

Remember, Star Casualty is B++ rated by A.M. Best. We offer limits up to 250/500/100 with all limits above state minimum 100% reinsured by Gen Re, AAA rated by Standard and Poor’s.
